When 911 becomes 000

When 10 dispatchers in the Bucks County 911 office sit around and ignore an emergency phone call from a handicapped woman trapped in flames in her bed, the head of the department should lose his head.

It's not acceptable anymore to accept his lame excuses for a lax system and relieve him from responsibility for his weak promise that he will order a retraining program. The situation indicates a culture that encourages poor attitudes of personnel from the bottom up. The solution to boost the protective services for county residents is appointment of a new director who will clean house of the delinquents. Anything less than a complete overhauling of the procedures and the personnel is unacceptable. The county commissioners should take constructive action without delay.
